History of Mitchelstown Transport

Mitchelstown Transport was founded in 1975 by Con and Ann O’Brien and has more than 50 years’ experience in transport and logistics within Ireland. They commenced the company with one significant contract with Dairygold (Formerly known as the Mitchelstown Creamery).

It’s remarkable to think that, at one time, the company operated with just a single truck. However, as the saying goes, "from little acorns, oak trees grow," and this has certainly been the case for Mitchelstown Transport as it has expanded its fleet and services over the years!

In 1995, Ciaran O’Brien became part of the family business as the Operations Manager, playing a key role in driving its growth and expansion. By 2015, the company made a significant leap by acquiring its first HIAB crane, which enabled us to offer new specialized services to our valued clients. In recent years, Ciaran has taken on the role of Managing Director. However, you can still often find him in the field, expertly operating one of our truck-mounted cranes or unloading goods with a Moffatt Forklift. It's this hands-on approach that truly reflects our commitment to quality and service.
